New Agent Information and Requirements

Step #1:
Interview with a Prudential Carruthers manager nearest you or contact out career counselor at 1-800-481-9976 or e-mail career@prudentialcarruthers.com
Step #2:
Determine which real estate license you will need.
  The current requirement to pass the state examination and obtain a real estate license for Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia is 60 hours of instruction.

Step #3:

Register for the "Principles and Practices of Real Estate" course offered by Prudential Carruthers REALTORS. This course is required before you can take the state examination.

Immediately initiate taking your state exam.

Once you receive your testing number call one of the testing locations to set a time and date.

Pass your state exam.
Step #7:
You have one year from the date that you pass the licensing exam to determine your license status. You may elect to:
  • Activate your license with Prudential Carruthers Realtors. You will be able to list, sell, and lease property.

  • Activate your license with PCR Referral Company. This license is considered active status. You can receive compensation on referrals only, through a licensed agent. You cannot perform the fiduciary duties of a licensed agent, nor are you responsible for most professional fees and duties.

  • Place your license in an inactive status. You cannot perform any fiduciary duties and cannot collect any compensation or referral fees.
